"my kids got bored quickly" 2009-08-25

I bought this for my 4 year old twins but they quickly lost intrest. They thought there were too many silly animation clips and not enough games to play.

"We never got into it" 2009-06-07

We found this game difficult to control and difficult to understand.

We lost interest before we had much of a chance to try it. We may try it again one day, but meanwhile Lego Star Wars is the number one choice

"Good, but is straining my ears" 2008-09-10
By J. Roberts (UK)
For the age group, this could have been a four- or even five-star review, but ... it's such a strain to hear the instructions. 1 - there is 'background' music (which sounds very much like it's in the foreground) playing all the time; 2 - Stefan the narrating elephant has a slightly difficult (to an English ear) accent and style of speaking; 3 - the instructions for what to find next are delivered just when the child is shouting excitedly about having completed the previous task. There is then no easy way to get the instructions to repeat. It *is* a fun game, it's just frustrating that I have to help my daughter listen out for the instructions, and then keep backing out of the game in order to hear them again.

 "Wii's first kids-friendly game" 2007-09-30
By Vortexnavigator (England)
This game is aimed squarely at the 3-8 age bracket, and is probably the first Wii game to overtly court that age group.

Play wise, it's similar to brain training games, but simpler. Games involve shapes, colours and sounds. Using the controller is quite intuitive for little hands, for example navigating the game brings to mind using a mouse as the pointer changes when something selectable appears, whilst in some games, dragging and dropping items (for example, decorating a room, like in The Sims) also improves hand-eye co-ordination.

My youngest has been desperate to use Wii but hasn't been able to use the controller (his attempts at playing Wii Sports are hilarious) but this has given him his 'own' game and he's made up.

One word of warning, though If your children are hard of hearing, (or noisy while playing) they'll find this difficult as all instructions are given verbally. This is obviously to encourage non-reading children to play, but subtitle options might have been useful.

It's great to see a company like UbiSoft (Red Steel, Rayman) taking advantage of Wii's features to produce product for younger gamers.

"Great fun, if you're small" 2009-11-07
By Web-Bee (uk)
My little girl (just 6) has loved playing this game. You take ownership of your own pet cat, who then turns into the hero of the hour. The story does have a scary element, but so do most good films! You have to complete quests for rewards, run errands for other cats in exchange for clues to unlock the secret to combating the evil wolf who has stolen the magic hat and is slowly taking over the world. It's not exactly tellytubbies, but neither is it the Death Eaters! There is quite a lot of reading, but it's good if your child is learning to read. You can buy different outfits for your cat, and there are challenges to complete to restore good to the world. (Rather baffled by the reviews that said the challenges were hard and therefore no good!!) My little girl quickly got into the idea of remembering which part of "Catland" was where and how to go about things like replenishing lives, fishing, calling etc. I'd really recommend this as an introduction to role playing and adventure games.

We're nearly at the end (bought it in August, so it's kept her busy for a good 3 months, but Wii time is limited) but will start over once we've completed the last challenge (which is likely to take some time - very tricky!!)

 "It's great!" 2009-05-29
By Lauren Spencer (Dorset, UK)
I'm not quite sure why everyone is complaining about this game. If youre expecting it to be the Cat version of Nintendogs then you will be dissappointed as it is nothing like it but it is a fantastic game! You choose the cat you want, choose it's gender, name it and undergo a series of missions to save your island from the big, bad wolf! You can also dress up your cat, fish, catch bugs and well, the list is endless. It really is great!

 "Not suitable for non-readers" 2009-04-15
By VeeJay
I bought this game for my 5 year old. Although she loves the characters and the concept, it is such a shame that the cats don't talk the instructions as she can't do anything on her own as we have to read everything for her. Her other frustration is pointing the fish bone to move - if the game had the nunchuk too she could have moved around with a lot more ease. As for the minigames - we still haven't managed to beat the computer on the first level!

Customer Buzz
"An Ok Role Playing Cat Game" 2009-03-29
By Happy Days (UK)
Bought this on special offer for my daughter - nearly six. I agree with others that there is alot of reading involved in this game, so don't expect to switch it on and let it babysit your younger child for a couple of hours. However, the game is quite imaginative and quite addictive once you get into it and I've enjoyed helping my daughter with the words and the gameplay. She enjoys the game and hasn't got bored.

You choose a cat to play with and travel around an island on quests to repair damage wreaked on everyone by an evil wolf. There are lots of challenges, mini games, money to earn and things to collect.

In summary, a reasonable game for the money but expect any child under 8yrs to need assistance.

"Not fot the above 10's" 2009-02-11
By Ms. Victoria E. Laughton
I thought this would be a good game, but in honesty, I got annoyed very quickly at the fact there is more 'Story telling' in it than any actual game interaction. Not to mention the cats meowing constantly drove me nuts after 20mins.
